We grew up in East Salinas where seeing low riders cruise through our neighborhood wasn’t uncommon. I can remember Richie Powell making his Mazda B2000 ned dance. Dino’s step dad shining up his 67 Impala every weekend. Johnny the swapmeeter’s flamed up dodge truck, Michael’s Impala rusting away on his driveway next door waiting for the “one day” he could afford to build it. Probably the most memorable low rider cruising our street was a candy painted late 80’s Mercury Cougar with paint fades, Alan Sign pinstriping and a shiny Street Life Car Club in his back window. Street Life was the first car club we knew about. So it’s exciting to see the fellas from Street Life Car Club making a big comeback. This past weekend Street Life held a picnic at Toro Park. It was a fun smaller event with a lot of our favorite local cars. Thanks for the invite fellas. We’re glad to see the Street Life plaques flying again.
Thanks for looking!
