Mooneyes X-Mas Party 2018

Every second weekend of December the Mooneyes crew put together a great event at Irwndale Speedway. For most this is the closing automotive event of the year. What a great event to close the year with. The show area is jam packed with all different types of cars from all over California. Drag racers light up the track all afternoon long and the vendor area brings out some great brands for people to do some last minute Christmas shopping. For the first time in 7 years we were one of those brands.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by the Deadend Magazine booth!

Deadend Magazine Weekend Report - 10/24/16

This past Saturday we headed down to Famoso Raceway for the California Hot Rod Reunion with Toshi and Yudai from Deadend Magazine Japan. It had been a few year since I had been down to the CHRR. I am so glad we made the trek it was very fun!

While we were enjoying our time in Famoso Jun (Deadend Magazine Japan) attended a couple events in Japan. Here are a few shots he took at DTL. Enjoy..

Throwback - Black & White Photography

Since 2006 I've had a folder in one of the external hard drives simply labeled "Black & White." I haven't opened it in months, maybe years. My brother and I had a conversation about a certain photo and he said, "I think it's in that black & white folder you have" so today I opened up the folder (found that photo) and looked at all the photos in there. Most of the photos sparked a memory and I was pleasantly surprised and realized that not all those photos were taken in the same weekend or even month. We must've had black & white film loaded in our Canon and carried it around for months shooting only one or two frames per event. I can't remember why or how we chose what to shoot with this roll but here are a few shots..

This shot was taken in a huge old cemetery in the Inland Empire (wish I could remember the name)

Deadend Magazine Weekend Report 12-14-15

This weekend was a very busy & fun one. We kicked off the weekend at the Mooneyes X-Mas Party in Irwindale, CA. We then headed to El Cajon to shoot Eric Conner's custom Oldsmobile. After the photo shoot we headed to Tribal Gear's Holiday Happening in San Diego, CA. The next morning we headed to Riverside, CA to shoot the Jimenez Bros. Customs built 54 Chevy. And finished the weekend with uploading new gear and restocking gear in our online shop.

Throwback - Nitro Nationals 2005

Ten years ago we (Deadend Magazine) were still covering traditional American car events religiously. We would jump in my brothers Honda Civic or my Toyota Pick-Up (both had great gas mileage and I miss my Toyota a little) and drive down to Southern California almost as often as we do now.
We'd frequent the drag races in Pomona & Famoso. Our good friend Robert McDonald's dad Pat would race his Nova at many events (C/Gas in 2005) so we'd tag along for the weekend and hang out with his team in the pits. It was really fun. We'd get there early, watch them prepare the car, eat bar-b-que with them, roam around the pits snapping pictures and had someone to root for. Ever since Pat retired from drag racing going to the races hasn't been the same (Pat recently picked up another Nova that he is working, not to race though). The drag races are still fun, walking around the pits is still my favorite part... But when we had a team to hang out with, and root for it was really something. I do miss it. Maybe we need to hit the drags more often...
Here are a few shots from one of our many trips to the drags. The 2005 Nitro Nationals.
