Lone Star Round Up 2019

Another 3,300 mile road trip from Salinas, CA to Austin in the books. Every April for the last 13 years we’ve made the trip (twice we flew if we’re being honest) to the Lone Star Round Up and every year is a memorable one. This year’s show was memorable for many reasons. First off we had the pleasure of designing the official show artwork. (Thanks again Kontinentals for the opportunity) Second, the weather (per usual) surprised us (we never learn) Third, seeing our friends we only see in Texas is always fun. Lastly, we always seem to meet new people. People who seem to follow Deadend via social media and are excited to stop by the booth and chat.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by!

This year’s badge with the artwork created by us.

Sunday we headed to Broadway in Compton to check out the weekly Sunday cruise. It’s actually more than a cruise it’s like an all day block party. Doesn’t get much more “real” or “street” than Broadway on Sundays.

After hanging out on Broadway for a while we headed to shoot Jack Fields’ custom 1954 Chevy. Jack has been building this 54 Chevy for many years. It just wasn’t his at first. It started life as a customer’s car and Jack quickly fell in love with the build. As soon as he had the chance he scooped it up and put more of his own feel to the car. The chopped top, mild shave and custom interior were all capped off with unique seaweed flames. Jack has enjoyed his car from the beginning (building it) to driving the car to the Lone Star Round Up in Austin, TX. We’re glad we had a chance to snap some photos of it.

New Year's Weekend 2019

They say the way you begin the new year is the way you will spend the rest of the year. In our case they are absolutely right. We always spend New Year’s Day at some kind of car event. The start of 2019 was no exception. We split up and covered a few events.

Our last photo shoot of 2018 was with our friend Mayra Kay in our hometown of Salinas, CA.

Mooneyes X-Mas Party 2018

Every second weekend of December the Mooneyes crew put together a great event at Irwndale Speedway. For most this is the closing automotive event of the year. What a great event to close the year with. The show area is jam packed with all different types of cars from all over California. Drag racers light up the track all afternoon long and the vendor area brings out some great brands for people to do some last minute Christmas shopping. For the first time in 7 years we were one of those brands.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by the Deadend Magazine booth!

Mooneyes Hot Rod Custom Show 2018

This past weekend we had the pleasure of attending and vending at the Mooneyes Custom Hot Rod Show in Yokohama Japan. There aren’t many events like the world renowned annual “Yokohama” show. People from all across the world make the trek to check out the colorful Japanese low riders, crazy customs, and invited guests from all over the globe. There really is no other event like it. The Road to Custom Hill Reunion 2018 w/Pharaohs Car Club

We have been fortunate enough to travel to Japan numerous times, and every time is a different and great experience. The best part of being in Japan is making memories with old and new friends, having the opportunity to become friends with the people we meet and interact with.

A couple of weeks ago we went back to Japan to attend the Custom Hill car show, we really didn’t know much about the event but we had heard good things about it. We were lucky enough to ride from Nagoya to the show area with our homies from Pharaohs Car Club and a couple of rides from Primera Car Club. Junichi and the rest of the crew let us ride with them in their bad ass low riders. It took us about five hours with a couple of stops in between. I noticed that every car in the caravan was riding on bias ply 5.20 tires and hydraulics, and a half of them had candy paint. It was impressive to see that they were willing to drive so far in such traditional cars even driving thru some rain. It was a great experience and we hope to do it again next time we visit Japan.

Deadend Magazine Weekend Report - 09/18/18

We spent this past Saturday in Antioch, CA at the “World’s Least Important Car Show” Billetproof. We’ve been going to Billetproof for years now and the show has always been a good time. The Contra Costa County Fairgrounds is filled from one end to the other with hundreds of traditional Customs, Hot Rods & Bombs from all over the Bay Area. Thanks to everyone who stopped by the Deadend Magazine booth. We appreciate the continued support.
