Hot August Nights & San Jose Blvd Nights 2019

If you like classic cars you have to experience Hot August Nights in Reno, NV at least once in your life. The entire city is filled with classic cars from all over the country and spectators from all over the globe. We were there from Wednesday to Sunday and probably saw less than a third of the action. Car shows, runs to nearby cities, and cruising keep the crowds entertained all week long.

There’s just something about cars hitting streets instead of sitting at a show. For 25 years '“San Jose Boulevard Nights” has been a cruise night in East San Jose the lowriding community waits for all year long. This year low lows from all over the bay area showed up strong to hit the streets of San Jose. We had a really good time.

Tavares Family Super Show

Tavares Family brought a Lowrider Magazine sanctioned car show to Salinas, CA (our hometown) and it was a huge success. The Salinas Airport was filled from fence to fence with some amazing cars, motorcycles and bikes from all over the states. If that wasn’t enough to have a good time the stage had great acts all day. Thanks to everyone who stopped by the Deadend Magazine booth.

6th annual Custom Capital

This past weekend we hosted the 6th annual Custom Capital at Manzanita Park in Prunedale, CA. To say we had a good time is an understatement. Seems like every year the show keeps getting better & bigger. Customs, hot rods, and low riders came from all over California. Thanks to everyone who brought a car, our sponsors, vendors, our family & friends and anyone who continued to support what we do.

San Jose Throwback Cruise

This past Saturday the low riders came out in numbers to cruise Santa Clara St. in San Jose, CA for the “Throwback Cruise.” We love to see cars cruising up and down the street more than seeing them at a car show. Something about being in their natural environment just makes sense.

Deadend Magazine photo exhibit 'Far West vs Far East' at Cukui SJ

We had the honor of showcasing some of our photography from California & Japan at Cukui in Japantown San Jose, CA this past Friday. Thanks to all of our homies who cruised out in their classic cars. If you didn’t get a chance the photos will be up at Cukui (229 Jackson St, San Jose, CA 95112) for the next month.

New Year's Weekend 2019

They say the way you begin the new year is the way you will spend the rest of the year. In our case they are absolutely right. We always spend New Year’s Day at some kind of car event. The start of 2019 was no exception. We split up and covered a few events.

Our last photo shoot of 2018 was with our friend Mayra Kay in our hometown of Salinas, CA.

Custom Hill 2018

Last month we visited Japan to attend the Custom Hill Reunion. We were fortunate enough to ride with our homies from Pharaohs Car Club. The Pharaohs all drive very traditional styled lowriders with hydraulics and bias ply tires. We rolled with them on a five hour drive from Nagoya to the car show. The drive was a lot of fun and a great experience, the car show did not disappoint. There was a good mix of customs and lowriders and even some cool hot rods, surrounded by beautiful nature. Thanks to everyone who stopped by the Deadend Magazine booth.

The Road to Custom Hill Reunion 2018 w/Pharaohs Car Club

We have been fortunate enough to travel to Japan numerous times, and every time is a different and great experience. The best part of being in Japan is making memories with old and new friends, having the opportunity to become friends with the people we meet and interact with.

A couple of weeks ago we went back to Japan to attend the Custom Hill car show, we really didn’t know much about the event but we had heard good things about it. We were lucky enough to ride from Nagoya to the show area with our homies from Pharaohs Car Club and a couple of rides from Primera Car Club. Junichi and the rest of the crew let us ride with them in their bad ass low riders. It took us about five hours with a couple of stops in between. I noticed that every car in the caravan was riding on bias ply 5.20 tires and hydraulics, and a half of them had candy paint. It was impressive to see that they were willing to drive so far in such traditional cars even driving thru some rain. It was a great experience and we hope to do it again next time we visit Japan.
