Noble Fabrication "Endless Summer" & Photo shoot with Genesis

For the last few years Noble Fabrication has hosted “Endless Summer” cruise-in the Sunday after the Ventura Nationals. We haven’t had a chance to make it in years, but always heard good things about the event. We made it a point not to miss it this year. We’re glad we made it! It’s a nice event to hang out and talk about how awesome Ventura Nationals was at Matt’s cool shop. Check out some of the photos we captured.

Deadend Magazine Feature - Jeff Cecilio's 1953 Chevy

In our opinion style is the most important thing when building a custom car. The profile, stance, paint, wheel and tire combo, and small details all make a car look good if they all work well together. This 53 chevy owned by our friend Jeff was styled in part by the team at Starlite Rod and Custom in Southern California. Everything from the great color choices to the floating grill and heavy chop all give the car a unique look. A lot of 53/54 Chevys have been customized in the past but this one sure does stand out.

Sunday we headed to Broadway in Compton to check out the weekly Sunday cruise. It’s actually more than a cruise it’s like an all day block party. Doesn’t get much more “real” or “street” than Broadway on Sundays.

After hanging out on Broadway for a while we headed to shoot Jack Fields’ custom 1954 Chevy. Jack has been building this 54 Chevy for many years. It just wasn’t his at first. It started life as a customer’s car and Jack quickly fell in love with the build. As soon as he had the chance he scooped it up and put more of his own feel to the car. The chopped top, mild shave and custom interior were all capped off with unique seaweed flames. Jack has enjoyed his car from the beginning (building it) to driving the car to the Lone Star Round Up in Austin, TX. We’re glad we had a chance to snap some photos of it.

Deadend Magazine Weekend Report - 02/21/19

This weekend we headed down to Southern California for a couple photo shoots.

A couple years ago Scott Crothers and his wife drove his 1940 Chevy pick-up from Marina Del Rey, CA to our car show the Custom Capital (that’s over 300 miles in the middle of summer) As soon as he pulled up to the Deadend Magazine store we noticed it and knew we’d shoot it one day. We just didn’t know it would take us so long. We’re glad we finally did and this time instead of the hot summer heat Scott had to drive about an hour in the blistering cold & short rain fall.

The pick-up started it’s custom life at Masterson Kustoms and was finished at Craftmaster Custom in Lynwood, CA. The 1968 327 and 700r4 keep the Chevy on the road but what really makes the little truck stand out is all the custom touches. Like the 4” channel over the frame, 4 point coil over suspension (that’s right no airbags), suicide doors and 1940 Merc rear bumper with custom bumper guards and taillights. If everything goes well Scott plans to drive the pick-up back up to this year’s Custom Capital. We hope to see you here!

Sunday we headed to Murrieta & Temecula to shoot Jesse Martinez' 1953 Chevy. The Chevy first caught our eye at the Pomona Swapmeet last year. The color is what initially attracted us to the car. Last month we seen it again at the Bombs Super Show and knew we should snap some pics of the car. Jesse knows he has a few more things to finish up the car and has help from his daughter Avery Martinez along the way but continues to enjoy driving the car while building it.

Sunday morning we did something we should've done a long time ago. Something we were actually surprised we hadn't done before. We shot and filmed Coby Gewertz' custom Ford Econoline "VanGo." If you haven't heard of or seen VanGo you haven't been paying attention. The crazy cool Econoline has been showing at shows & cruising the streets for a few years now. Some highlights include Coby driving the van from Southern California to Austin Texas and more recently the van took a trio to Mooneyes' Yokohama show in Japan. Everything about VanGo is cool. The exterior paint, the suspension, the wheels, the custom work and then you open the side doors. The interior is just as cool as the exterior. We're glad we finally took the time to shoot Coby's van. Stay tuned for the video...

Deadend Magazine Weekend Report - 07/02/18

This weekend we stayed close to home but still had fun shooting. We snapped some shots of Ruben Cardona's clean 1937 Lincoln Zephyr and also shot Genesis wearing some of our newest designs for the ladies and some hats that have been re-stocked.

Ruben has had his Zephyr for a few years now. Through the years he has slowly been working on it to where it is now and has more plans for the car. It's really cool to see Ruben cruise it and enjoy it through the process.

Deadend Magazine Weekend Report - 04/11/18

This past weekend we made our annual 3300+ mile trek from Salinas, CA to Austin, Tx for the Lone Star Round Up. For the past 11 years we've had the pleasure of attending the 'Round Up' and year after year I am impressed with the cars but most importantly the people behind the event. I call it an event 'cause it's more than a show, it's an experience. For most the experience lasts more than the 2 car show days and everyone seems to have their favorite bbq joint to hit while in Austin. Steve, Brian & The Kontinentals (The people behind the event) do such a great job of making sure everyone feels welcome and enjoys their stay that people from all across America continue to show up. See you there next year!

photo borrowed from Miller Cochran from the Jalopy Journal. The last few years we have had the honor of awarding a car the "Deadend Magazine Pick" and every year we have a few conversations about a few cars we individually choose as our favorite until we collectively agree on a single car. This year we had narrowed it down to about 3 really cool cars until Jeff from Murrays Hot Rods pointed out this beautiful mild custom '36 Ford right before we turned in our slip. Somehow we missed it but glad Jeff pointed it out. Needless to say we gave it the Deadend pick. Great car!
